pnks, hpies pt. 70

In my experience, hippies are more likely than punks to compel strangers, guests, half-friends, friends and/or acquaintances to listen to their recordings in awkward “sittin’-round-the-stereo” situations. But at the same time, hippies generally seem more interested in (and dedicated to) playing kinds of musics that strangers, guests, half-friends, friends and/or acquaintances are likely to recognize or “like.”

To me, this last virtue speaks to hippies’ having some sorta code/social contract that belies a lotta civilians’ presumptions about them being just freebirdin’, sandal-crafting river folk. And, y’know, I guess that’s cool. Ya gotta respect that, I guess.
