comprehensive campaign crap/not crap

go to uncle’s, please, and check out this ad from the wakeupwalmart people (i.e. the UFCW) and tell me whether it crosses the line of strenuous critique into xenophobia, or whether it walks that line very, very effectively. it definitely seems to come from the “if you’re against the war you don’t support the troops” school of subtlety.

is this a question of ends and means, people? i beg to differ with dave’s assertion that this movement has been entirely ineffective; rather, i wonder after what (positive) effects are to be found in another round of fear-mongering.

I vote crap. I had to think about this one for a minute, though, because I wasn’t sure if the people behind the making of the film were consciously treading/oscillating between the distinction(s) of kitsch and camp in the ad. Then, I decided, they’re no way smart enough to know the difference.
